Just what is a Charybdis?

For those who love a knife that is not only of the highest quality, but also unique, we are pleased to chat today about our superb Charybdis collectible chef knives and steak knives, as well as new additions to that collection.

If you would like to learn more about our charybdis fine cutlery knives, the story behind the bladesmith and the name we have chosen for this collection, please visit "The Charybdis Collection" page under the "Collectibles" tab in the main navigation menu.

On the page, you will find beautiful chef knives in your choice of shirogami carbon steel or gingami3 stainless steel made exclusively for Salter Fine Cutlery to our own designs. Whether you choose stainless or carbon steel, you can be assured of the same beautiful pattern, quality and attention to detail in your knife order.

So what's new in the Charybdis line?

Steak knives and more! We now offer steak knife sets in stainless steel, hunting knives and special one-of-a-kind collectible knives and knife sets by this very talented bladesmith.

Each knife in this collection has been made completely by hand by an 8th generation Japanese blacksmith using the same techniques as his ancestors.

Whether for the kitchen, the dining table, or just for fun in a special display stand or box, you can now own one of these magnificent specimens of old world craftsmanship with your own personal handle interpretation.

Custom designs and orders welcomed.

We welcome your comments and phone calls.
