This knife features a 210mm blade of OU-31 steel. It is a very hefty knife which is meant to be used or admired and is razor sharp, with a convex grind known as an appleseed grind. It is the same grind as used in Japanese sword-making and is both incredibly sharp and very, very tough. Because of the nature of this grind, the blade is about 5mm thick at the thickest point and we have asked Kiku to add his famous pattern and finger notches in a nod to his hunting and tactical knife designs. The blade is signed with both the Kiku and Salter Fine Cutlery logos.
Kiku knives are used the world over by people who demand the best blades for both military, tactical, and outdoor use. He makes these blades, which can be used in the kitchen or outdoors, exclusively for Salter Fine Cutlery. The handle has accents of stainless steel, plus decorative bands of nickel-silver, brass, Mozambique ebony, black spacers and a decorative mosaic pin. And it features a rare and very beautiful example of Hawaiian curly koa wood.
The price includes your choice of handcrafted display stand or keepsake koa wood box. The photo below shows a previously made version of this knife in a Salter Hawaiian hook stand.
Although the photos below are no longer available, we have similar blades in stock or can special order collectible blades to your own wishes. If we do have a similar blade, the knife handle and presentation of each knife will always differ so that each is a unique product made for you alone.
We hope these examples of previous custom collectibles will excite and inspire your vision for your own one-of-a-kind custom Salter Fine Cutlery product.
