Happy New Year from Salter Fine Cutlery

Happy New Year from Salter Fine Cutlery

From our home to yours, wherever you may be, we want to extend our very best wishes to all of our customers, friends and followers for a very happy New Year and prosperous 2017!

When planning your holiday feast, be sure to lightly strop your knives after every use before storage.  Whether our knives or any other, your knives will stay sharp longer if you strop lightly with either a ceramic honing rod or a leather strap after each use.

Also, use wood cutting boards to extend the life of your knife edge. If you have an end-grain cutting board, that is even better as the blades will not be dulled by the board.  In my humble opinion, avoid using your knives on plastic or ceramic cutting boards, unless you like dulling your knife.

And lastly, no matter how good or inexpensive your knife is, 'stainless' actually is only 'stain-resistant', meaning any knife can rust given the right conditions. Therefore, although that knife may be used plenty for cutting appetizers, meals, and maybe even lots of lime if you are into margaritas, try to avoid leaving it in standing water or in a pool of lemon or lime juice tonight.

Have fun, stay safe, and best wishes to you all!
