The Original "Combat Chef" knife
The original one-of-a-kind "Combat Chef Knife," as featured in Robb Report Home & Style magazine. This Salter collaboration collectible featured a blade made by world famous blademaker and grinder, Kiku Matsuda of Japan exclusively for Salter Fine Cutlery.
The blade was of the extremely tough OU-31 carbon steel and required the skills of a master blademaker to achieve a striking damascus pattern with a mirror polish finish.
The handle and box were designed and handcrafted by Gregg Salter of Salter Fine Cutlery in Hawaii. The handle featured our rare, reserve stock of old-growth premium grade curly Hawaiian koa wood with accents of black buffalo horn and hand-forged Damascus fittings on both ends of the koa wood handle. This handle required many hours of hand shaping to create the concave faceted design with finger grips. No machinery was used in the making of this handle; all filing, sanding, shaping and buffing was done entirely by hand.
A gorgeous presentation box of matching old-growth rare koa wood with black velvet interior lining created a stunning display presentation for this rare knife.
